Plain-English Summary: 8HP Tuner provides AI-assisted tuning guidance. It does not modify your vehicle directly. You are responsible for verifying and applying any changes. Use at your own risk.

1. Operator

8HP Tuner is operated by Shafield Pty Ltd (ABN 54 696 523 976), a company registered in Queensland, Australia, trading as 8HP Tuner. References to "we", "us", or "our" refer to Shafield Pty Ltd.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, purchasing a licence, or using the 8HP Tuner application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.

These terms apply to all users including free trial users, Single ECU licence holders, Tuner Pro subscribers, and sub-users created under a master account.

3. Description of Service

8HP Tuner is an AI-assisted analysis and guidance tool for tuning ZF 8HP automatic transmissions (Generation 1: 8HP45, 8HP70, 8HP90) via MaxxECU MTune software. The App:

  • Analyses uploaded ECU save files and driving logs
  • Generates tuning recommendations using AI-based systems (Anthropic Claude)
  • Provides guidance on transmission settings, shift strategy, and torque correction
  • Does not directly connect to, communicate with, or modify any ECU or TCU
  • Does not write, flash, or transmit data to any vehicle system

4. No Affiliation

8HP Tuner is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with MaxxECU AB, Turbolamik, ZF Friedrichshafen AG, or any vehicle manufacturer, ECU manufacturer, or transmission supplier. All product names, trademarks, and brand names referenced within the App are the property of their respective owners and are used solely for identification and compatibility purposes.

5. Guidance Only — Not Professional Advice

All outputs from 8HP Tuner, including recommendations, table values, suggested parameter changes, and diagnostic flags, are AI-generated guidance only. They do not constitute professional engineering advice, mechanical advice, or advice from a qualified automotive tuner.

You must:

  • Independently verify all recommendations before applying them to any vehicle
  • Ensure you have the knowledge or professional support necessary to safely implement changes
  • Test all changes in a safe, controlled environment before road use
  • Accept full responsibility for any changes made to your vehicle based on outputs from this App

6. Inherent Risk

Vehicle tuning involves inherent mechanical and safety risks. Incorrect changes to transmission settings can result in transmission damage, loss of vehicle control, personal injury, property damage, or death. By using this App you acknowledge these risks and agree that you are solely responsible for the consequences of any changes made to any vehicle.

7. Accounts and Licences

Access to full App features requires a paid licence (Single ECU or Tuner Pro). Licences are tied to the email address used at purchase and are non-transferable. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account password and for all activity under your account.

Sub-user accounts may be created under a Tuner Pro master account. The master account holder is responsible for ensuring all sub-users are informed of and agree to these Terms before accessing the platform.

8. Acceptable Use

You must not:

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, extract, or reproduce the AI system prompts, diagnostic logic, or internal scoring systems
  • Use the App to tune vehicles for illegal purposes or in a manner that violates road laws
  • Share, resell, or sublicence access to the App without authorisation
  • Upload files belonging to a vehicle you do not own or have authorisation to tune
  • Submit false, malicious, or misleading data designed to extract unsafe recommendations

9. Intellectual Property

All content, AI systems, diagnostic logic, system prompts, and software within the App are the intellectual property of Shafield Pty Ltd and are protected by Australian and international copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without written permission.

You retain ownership of any tune files or logs you upload. By uploading, you grant us a limited licence to process that data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Shafield Pty Ltd, its directors, employees, and agents are not liable for any loss, damage, or injury — including engine or transmission damage, vehicle loss, financial loss, loss of data, or personal injury — arising from your use of or reliance on the App or its outputs.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)). Where consumer guarantees apply, our liability is limited to re-supplying the service or paying the cost of having it re-supplied.

11. Service Availability

We aim to maintain consistent service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service temporarily for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. Credits will not be consumed during periods of confirmed service outage.

12. Modification of Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after notice of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Significant changes will be notified via the App or by email.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes are subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.

Privacy Policy

Effective: 1 April 2026  ·  Compliant with the Australian Privacy Act 1988
Plain-English Summary: We collect your email (stored as a one-way hash), vehicle data you choose to enter, and usage logs. We don't sell your data. We use Supabase (Seoul) for storage and Anthropic for AI processing.

1. Who We Are

Shafield Pty Ltd (ABN 54 696 523 976) trading as 8HP Tuner is the entity responsible for your personal information under this Policy. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. What Information We Collect

Account information:

  • Your email address — stored as a one-way SHA-256 hash. The original email address is not stored by our systems after hashing, except where needed for transactional email delivery (password reset, OTP codes)
  • A password hash (salted SHA-256) — your plaintext password is never stored
  • Optional: recovery email address and recovery phone number, if you choose to provide them

Vehicle and tuning data:

  • Vehicle name, engine type, power output, and notes that you enter manually
  • ECU serial number extracted from uploaded save files
  • Tune file content (ECU settings, shift tables, TCC parameters) from files you upload
  • Driving log data from log files you upload

Usage data:

  • Chat history (questions and AI responses) associated with your account and ECU serial
  • Credit usage logs including token counts and estimated AI processing costs
  • Timestamps of service usage

Anonymised community data (opt-in via session confirmation):

  • Anonymised tune parameters (ECU type prefix only, not full serial) contributed to shared community datasets when you confirm that a change worked for your vehicle. This data is stripped of personally identifiable information before storage.

Technical data collected by infrastructure:

  • IP addresses and request metadata processed by Cloudflare (our hosting provider) in accordance with their privacy policy
  • Browser type and operating system (standard web server logs)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To authenticate you and manage your account and licence
  • To provide the AI-assisted tuning analysis service
  • To maintain your session history and vehicle records across devices
  • To send transactional emails (password reset links, OTP verification codes)
  • To enforce usage limits and daily spend caps
  • To improve the service through aggregated, anonymised usage analysis
  • To comply with our legal obligations

We do not use your data for advertising purposes. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing.

4. AI Processing

When you send a message in the App, your message and relevant context (tune file data, vehicle information, session history) are transmitted to Anthropic, Inc. for AI processing via their API. This means your tuning data and questions are processed on Anthropic's infrastructure in accordance with their Privacy Policy and Usage Policy.

We do not transmit your email address or account credentials to Anthropic. Tune file data is transmitted without the ECU serial number where technically possible.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate 8HP Tuner:

  • Supabase (Seoul, South Korea region) — database storage for account data, vehicle records, chat history, and usage logs. Data is stored in the ap-northeast-2 (Seoul) AWS region.
  • Cloudflare — edge hosting, DDoS protection, and Worker compute for our API. Processes request metadata including IP addresses.
  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processing. We receive your email address from Lemon Squeezy when you purchase a licence. Lemon Squeezy's privacy policy governs data collected during checkout.
  • Anthropic — AI language model processing for all analysis features.
  • Mailchannels — transactional email delivery (password reset, OTP codes).

6. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored in Supabase's Seoul region. We implement the following security measures:

  • Email addresses stored only as one-way hashes — cannot be reversed to the original address
  • Passwords stored as salted hashes — plaintext passwords are never stored or logged
  • All API communication over HTTPS/TLS
  • Row-level security policies enforced at the database level
  • Optional two-factor authentication (OTP) for account access

No system is completely secure. In the event of a data breach that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) in accordance with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data: retained while your account is active and for up to 2 years after last use or account closure
  • Chat history: retained for up to 60 messages per vehicle; older messages are overwritten on a rolling basis
  • Usage logs: retained for 12 months for billing verification and abuse prevention
  • Anonymised community data: retained indefinitely as it contains no personal information

8. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Access: request a copy of personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated personal data
  • Complaint: lodge a complaint with the OAIC if you believe we have breached the Privacy Act

9. Cookies and Tracking

The 8HP Tuner app does not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We use browser localStorage and sessionStorage solely for session management and to persist your app state between page loads. No third-party tracking scripts are loaded on the app domain.

The landing page (8hptuner.com) is served via Cloudflare Pages which may set technical cookies necessary for security and performance. No analytics tracking (e.g. Google Analytics) is currently deployed.

10. Children

8HP Tuner is intended for adults 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via the App. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.

Refund Policy

Effective: 1 April 2026  ·  Governed by Australian Consumer Law
Plain-English Summary: We don't offer refunds on used credits. If the service doesn't work as described and it's our fault, contact us within 14 days and we'll make it right — either fixing the issue, issuing credits, or providing a proportional refund on unused analyses.

1. General Policy

All purchases of 8HP Tuner licences and credit top-ups are generally non-refundable once credits have been used or once the subscription period has begun, except as required by the Australian Consumer Law or as described below.

2. When Refunds or Credits Apply

Service failure: If the 8HP Tuner service fails to function as described — for example, if the AI consistently fails to process your files, if the app is unavailable for an extended period, or if credits are deducted without a response being delivered — you are entitled to a remedy. Contact us within 14 days of the issue and we will:

  • Restore any credits incorrectly deducted, or
  • Provide a proportional refund on unused analyses remaining on your licence, or
  • Re-supply the service where technically feasible

Accidental duplicate purchase: If you accidentally purchase the same product twice within a 24-hour window, contact us at support@8hptuner.com within 48 hours. We will review the usage records and refund the duplicate charge if no credits from the duplicate order have been used.

Tuner Pro — subscription cancellation: Tuner Pro is an annual subscription. If you cancel your subscription, access continues until the end of the billing period. We do not issue pro-rata refunds for unused subscription time unless the service has materially failed to deliver what was promised.

3. When Refunds Do Not Apply

  • Credits that have already been used (an "analysis" credit is consumed when an AI response is successfully delivered)
  • Dissatisfaction with AI-generated recommendations — the App provides guidance, not guaranteed outcomes, and results will vary by vehicle and use case
  • Change of mind after purchase
  • Purchases made on a different email address than the one you intended to use
  • Issues caused by incorrect file uploads, unsupported transmission variants (Gen 2/3), or user error

4. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this Refund Policy limits, excludes, or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) that cannot be excluded. Under the ACL, you may be entitled to a remedy if a service has a major failure. Where a statutory guarantee applies and the failure is major, you are entitled to choose a refund or other remedy. Where the failure is minor, we may choose to repair or re-supply the service.

5. How to Request a Refund

Email support@8hptuner.com with:

  • The email address used for purchase
  • The date of purchase and product purchased
  • A description of the issue experienced
  • Any relevant screenshots or error messages

We will respond within 3 business days. Approved refunds are processed via the original payment method through Lemon Squeezy and may take 5–10 business days to appear.
